Allegra Goodman

b. 1967

Novelist and short story writer Allegra Goodman was born in New York and grew up in Honolulu. She published her first short story in Commentary at age seventeen. The day she graduated Harvard University, her first book was published. Goodman teaches in the graduate program in Creative Writing at Boston University. She has received the Whiting Foundation Award, the Edward Lewis Wallant Award, and the New York Times Notable Book of the Year Award.
