Born in Lisbon and brought up in New York, Henry Sobel was the rabbi of Congregação Israelita Paulista in São Paolo, the largest Jewish congregation in Latin America. He was former chair of the Inter-Religious Relations Department of the Latin American Jewish Congress for the World Jewish Congress.
