Creator Bio

Hanoch Levin

1943–1999

Born and brought up in Tel Aviv, Hanoch Levin was a dramatist, director, writer, and poet. Levin was a major force in the Israeli theater and remained a controversial figure throughout his productive and tragically short career. He wrote more than sixty plays, as well as collections of poetry and prose, and two books for children. Many of his poems were set to music. In 1994, Levin received the Bialik Prize.
