Where the Ghetto Ends: Jews in Soviet Russia

Leon Dennen was born in the United States, was educated there and in Russia, and worked as a foreign correspondent for the Newspaper Enterprise Association. In the early 1930s, Dennen was associated with the Friends of the Soviet Union publishing house. After the Moscow trials, however, he denounced Stalinism, “the imperialist Soviet regime,” and its allies. In the 1940s, he became an editor of The New Leader. Dennen also wrote literary criticism and translated works by David Dallin and Vladimir Mayakovsky. He died in New York.
