In the Testament of Job, Job recalls the astonishment of King Eliphas at the catastrophic turn in Job’s fortunes. Eliphas expresses his astonishment in the form of a litany with a communal refrain. A dirge on the death of Job at the book’s conclusion is intoned by Job’s brother Nereus.
