Herod returned to Judaea, amassed an army, and, over the course of the next few years, drove out the Parthians. However, Antigonus’ general Pappus killed Herod’s younger brother Joseph. After some narrow escapes, Herod defeated and killed Pappas, avenging Joseph’s death.
