Ammianus Marcellinus

Ammianus Marcellinus (Ammian) was a pagan of Greek origin and a soldier in the Roman military who wrote a monumental work in Latin on the history of Rome from 96 to 387 CE. The early parts of the history have been lost, and only the section covering the years 353 to 378 is extant.
