Benji Levy

b. 1986

Benji Levy grew up in Sydney, Australia. He spent time studying in Israel at Yeshivat Har Etzion, where he was ordained as a rabbi, and he obtained a degree in education at Herzog College. At the age of twenty-six, he became dean of Moriah College in Sydney, where he worked for six years. He also earned a PhD in philosophy from the University of Sydney. In 2018, he moved to Israel and worked as the head of Mosaic United, an initiative meant to foster ties between Israelis and diaspora Jews. In 2020, Levy joined the Israel Defense Forces in the Spokesperson’s Unit (Dover Tsahal). He has founded or cofounded several organizations: Share (a Jewish learning community), Israel Impact Partners (supporting Jewish philanthropy), Dreaming Bigger (Jewish teen leadership), Keshev (a mental health center), and Tanna (an AI startup). He lives in Jerusalem. His works include Covenant and the Jewish Conversion Question: Extending the Thought of Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik, and An Oasis In Time: Seven Thoughts for the Seventh Day.
