Ḥiyya ben al-Dā’ūdi

ca. 1084-1154

Hiyya ben al-Dâ’udï seems to have lived in Christian Spain, in Castile. His family name indicates that they claimed Davidic descent. Many penitential selihot in Hiyya’s name appear in prayer books for the High Holidays from communities around the Mediterranean and in the Sephardic liturgy.
