Julius Lester

Julius Lester, a folklorist, performer, educator, historian, essayist, and author of more than forty books for children and adults, was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Lester is professor emeritus of Judaic and Near Eastern Studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Among his awards are the Newbery and Caldecott Honor Book citations.
