Lev Raphael
b. 1954
Born in New York City, Lev Raphael writes fi ction, mystery novels, essays, stories, and nonfi ction. Also a book critic, he was formerly a professor of creative writing at Michigan State University. Much of Raphael’s writing addresses the dual identity of being gay and Jewish. He has received the Harvey Swados Fiction Prize, the Reed Smith Prize, the Lambda Literary Award, and the International Quarterly Prize for Innovative Writing.
