Max Kohler

1871–1934

Max Kohler was an American Jewish lawyer who worked in immigration law. Born in Michigan to German Jewish immigrants, Kohler moved to New York as a child. He studied law in Columbia University and served as a U.S. attorney before going into private practice. He argued a number of important legal cases, including three on immigration law that reached the United States Supreme Court.
