Pirqoy ben Baboy

Pirqoy ben Baboy, whose name may have been Persian, was a student of a student of Yehuday Ga’on, who from 757 to 761 led the Sura academy, at the time located on the Euphrates River in Iraq. Other than what can be gleaned from his famed letter addressed to the Jewish communities in Spain and North Africa, nothing is known about him.
