Simon of Toledo

11th Century

Simon ben Saul ben Israel of Toledo, who is known only through his single letter in the Cairo Geniza, is one of the only Andalusi Karaites to have produced any surviving writings. As can be gleaned from the letter, Simon moved to Jerusalem with his father, leaving behind a brother and sister in Iberia. In Jerusalem, Simon married and cared for his aging father.
