This prayer, one of two piyyutim (liturgical poems) for Tu bi-Shevat discovered in the Cairo Geniza, was a surprising fnd for scholars, who had previously believed that there was no liturgy for that holiday before the seventeenth century. This is a kerovah (a general term for piyyutim written for the Amidah) structured around an alphabetic acrostic. The imagery of trees and fruit refects the meaning of the holiday and links Tu bi-Shevat to the resurrection of the dead and the redemption of Israel.
