The Kings of Edom
About This Entry
This list appears after the descendants of Esau, who, according to biblical tradition, was the ancestor of the Edomites.
31These are the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the Israelites. 32Bela son of Beor reigned in Edom, and the name of his city was Dinhabah. 33When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah, from Bozrah, succeeded him as king. 34When Jobab died, Husham of the land of the Temanites succeeded him as king. 35When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated the Midianites in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king; the name of his city was Avith. 36When Hadad died, Samlah of Masrekah succeeded him as king. 37When Samlah died, Saula of Rehoboth-on-the-river succeeded him as king. 38When Saul died, Baal-hanan son of Achbor succeeded him as king. 39And when Baal-hanan son of Achbor died, Hadar succeeded him as king; the name of his city was Pau, and his wife’s name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred daughter of Me-zahab.
