The first prayer here is a version of Barukh she-amar (“Praised Be the One Who Spoke”) followed by Psalms 92 and 93, designated for the Sabbath. The second part includes evening prayers for Friday night (the onset of the Sabbath) and for Saturday night (for its conclusion), which are identical to those in the Siddur of Se‘adya Ga’on; they rework the blessings around the Shema‘ in a poetic way that incorporates the themes of the day. The prayers appear in a manuscript, found in the Cairo Geniza, that was originally part of a codex that included prayers for the Sabbath.
