What Is the Wisdom of Solomon?
1st Century
Also known as the Book of Wisdom, the Wisdom of Solomon was composed in Greek in Alexandria. It was included in the Septuagint and is in the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox canons and the Protestant Apocrypha. The work makes extensive use of Greek literary conventions and philosophical ideas but with the aim of promoting what it views as the divine wisdom of Torah over pagan Hellenistic culture.
