Asher Shasho Levy

Asher Sasho Levy is a musician and a cantor at the Kitchen, a progressive Jewish community in San Francisco. Levy is of Syrian heritage on his father’s side and Ashkenazic heritage on his mother’s side, and his services incorporate music from a range of traditions, including liturgy in languages such as Judeo-Arabic and Ladino. He was the leader of the Aram Soba Ensemble, a group dedicated to Syrian Jewish music, and has served as artist/researcher in residence at the Jewish Language Project at Hebrew Union College.
