The Palestinian Talmud on Education in the Synagogue

y. Megillah 3:1, 73d

As R. Phineas said in the name of R. Hoshaiah: There were 480 synagogues in Jerusalem, each of which had a school and a Talmud study; [the school] for Bible and the Talmud study for Mishnah.

y. Horayot 2:5, 46c

WHAT IS THE POSITIVE COMMANDMENT ABOUT THE MENSTRUATING WOMAN? R. Abin said: Keep the children of Israel away from their impurities (Leviticus 15:31). R. Jonathan sent to ask R. Simeon ben R. Yosi bar Lakonia: From where [does a] a warning for one having sex with an impure woman [come]? He wanted to throw a stone after him; he told him: You are asking me something that children recite every day in the synagogue.
