Leviticus Rabbah on Pharaoh’s Daughter
These are the sons of Bithiah, the daughter of Pharaoh (1 Chronicles 4:18). R. Joshua of Sikhnin said, in the name of Rabbi Levi: The Holy One said to Bithiah, the daughter of Pharaoh, “Moses was not your son, yet you called him your son. Although you are not my daughter, I will nevertheless call you my daughter.” As it states: These are the sons of Bithyah [i.e., Bath Jah], the daughter of the Lord.
