Fülöp Grünwald

1887–1964

Born in Sopron, Hungary, historian Fülöp Grünwald was a teacher in the Jewish community of Pest and served as deputy director of the Hungarian Jewish Museum in Budapest. During World War II, Grünwald deposited Jewish liturgical objects and books into a bank in the city; these items were ultimately looted. After the war, Grünwald served as head of the history department of the rabbinical seminary in Budapest.
