Aryeh Sivan

1929–2015

Aryeh Sivan, a poet and translator, was born Aryeh Bornstein in Tel Aviv. He enlisted in the Palmach in 1947 and fought in the 1948 War. Sivan was a member of the pivotal Likrat literary group. He also wrote one of the most celebrated Hebrew-language detective mysteries, Adonis (1992), and was awarded the Brenner Prize in 1989. In 2010, Sivan received the Israel Prize for Poetry.
