Aliza Elion-Israeli

1948–2008

Aliza Elion-Israeli was a playwright and actress. Born in Ashkelon, she lived in Jerusalem. In 1982, she cofounded the Theater Collective of Jerusalem and served as its artistic director; the company’s performances are derived from Hebrew and Aramaic texts that the group modernizes. Elion-Israeli worked in social projects and community theater with disadvantaged youth, and taught theater at the Hebrew University.
