Born in New York City, Howard Greenfeld was a biographer of artists, musicians, and writers and the author and editor of books on Jewish history and tradition. Greenfeld also was the founder of Orion Press, now part of Viking Press. He received the 1968 Charles W. Follett Award for his biography of Marc Chagall.
