Abraham Abramson

Abraham Abramson and his father Jacob Abraham (1723–1800) were the only Jewish royal medalists in Germany in the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Abramson trained with his father but then worked on his own. He produced a series of portrait medals of German scholars, including one of Moses Mendelssohn. He was appointed royal medalist in 1781 and in 1792 became a member of the Preussische Akademie der Künste, Berlin.
