Tertullian
ca. 155–ca. 220
Hailing from Carthage, the prolific author Tertullian wrote histories of the early church and was the first to do so in Latin. He coined the term trinity (trinitas) and is considered the “father of Latin Christianity.” Among his thirty-one extant works is Adversos Iudaeos (Against the Jews), an anti-Jewish treatise.
