Julian

ca. 331–363
Julian, also known as Julian the Apostate, ruled the Roman Empire from 361 to 363. He rejected the Christianity of his childhood in favor of Neoplatonic paganism, trying to revive traditional Roman practices during his reign. Julian was a philosopher as well as a military leader; he wished to reform the empire through Hellenistic culture and religious tolerance, though he was not always tolerant of Christianity.
