Hematite Stone Amulet against Hip Pain

Hematite stone amulet against hip pain, third–fifth centuries CE. The inscription on the back reads, “for the hips.” The image of the reaper, which was common for this type of amulet, was likely chosen because agricultural laborers were perceived to be immune to hip and back pain.
