Abraham ben Rubigotsce

Abraham, 12th Century

Abraham ben Rubigotsce was a moneylender in England. His father, Rubigotsce (a Latinate version of “Rabbi Yose”), was a financier and scholar in Norman England, with a wealthy household in Rouen. Upon his father’s death, probably in the 1150s, Abraham took over the leadership of the main London synagogue.
