Se‘adya’s paraphrase of the Amidah deviates significantly from the standard text. It was perhaps intended for study or private worship rather than to replace the Amidah prayer in the liturgy. Se‘adya changes some of the content and format of the benedictions, including shifting from the first-person plural to a first-person singular. However, he adheres to the overall themes of each benediction as well as the underlying structure.
