It is our duty to praise the Master of everything, to ascribe greatness to Him who formed creation. For He has not made us like the nations of the lands, and has not set our portion like their portion, nor our destiny like their destiny. For they bow to vanity and emptiness and pray to a god who cannot save—a man, dust, blood, bile, rotting fesh, maggots, [worshiped by] impure men and women, adulterers and adulteresses, dying in their iniquity and rotting in their wickedness, decaying in the dust, rotten with maggots and worms. Thus, they pray to a god who cannot save.
But we bend our knees and bow down before the King, the King of kings, the Holy One, Lord of hosts, who sits upon the cherubs, the Lord of lords and the Master of masters, who created the heavens and extended them, who spread out the earth and the creatures that came out of it, who gave breath to the people that are upon it and spirit to them who walk on it [see Isaiah 42:5], who fashions all those who revere His sanctity, the earth and all that is upon it, the seas, the seas and all that is within them. This is solely for His praise, as His lovingkind-ness is forever, and to Him alone is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty, for all that is in the heaven and in the earth belongs to the Lord our God–the kingdom, and You are exalted as head above all [see 1 Chronicles 29:11]. Wealth, honor, life, death, truth, healing, peace, wisdom, understanding, and our knowledge are all from Him, as He rules over everything, and He has the might and the power to make everything great and strong. He is the Lord our God, the Lord of hosts, who sits upon the cherubs, who existed before all, who gives life to all, and everything will waste away until He remembers them. There is no end to the length of His days and His years will not cease, for He alone is the everlasting Rock [see Isaiah 26:4], and there is no other besides Him, whose precious throne is in the heavens above and whose abode of power is in the loftiest heights. There is no end, nor searching out, nor measure, nor limit to His majesty, sovereignty, praise, excellence, loftiness, or to His wonders and His awe. For He is high above any blessing and praise, and all sovereignty and rule. Blessed be He, blessed be His name, for He took us as His portion, and drew us near to His service. We await Him alone, and we proclaim His unity before Him and look toward and anticipate His mercies. We long for, venerate, and glorify His great name alone, continually, evening and morning. The truth is that You are the Lord, our God, and there is no other. Our King is truth, and there is nothing apart from Him, as it is written in Your Torah: Know this day, and take it to heart, that the Lord is God in heaven above and upon the earth below; there is none other.
