Kaddish of Renewal (Kaddish le-ḥadata)

Version 1

May His great Name be magnifed and sanctifed.

For He will renew the world in the future and revive the dead, and redeem the living, and build the city of Jerusalem, and perfect the holy Sanctuary, and uproot foreign worship from the land, and restore the work of heaven to its place, in His radiance and glory, and He will reign in His kingdom, and bring forth His redemption, and bring His Messiah, and redeem His people in your lifetime and in your days, and in the lifetime of all the house of Israel, swiftly and soon, and say: Amen.

May His great name be blessed forever and for all time.

Blessed, praised, glorifed, exalted, uplifted, honored, lauded, and raised be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, above and beyond all blessing, song, praise, and consolation uttered in the world, and say: Amen.

Upon the sages, and upon their students, and upon the students of their students, who are occupied with the Torah, in this place, and in any place.

Version 2

May His great Name be magnifed and sanctifed.

For He will renew the world in the future and revive the living, build the city of Jerusalem and perfect the holy Sanctuary, uproot foreign worship from the land and restore the work of heaven to its place, in His splendor, radiance, and glory. He will reign in His king dom, bring forth His redemption, and bring His messiah and redeem His people in your lifetime and in your days, and in the lifetime of all the house of Israel, swiftly and soon, and say: Amen.

May His great name be blessed forever and for all time.

Blessed, praised, glorifed, exalted, uplifted, honored, lauded, and raised, be the name of the Holy One, blessed be He, above and beyond all blessing, song, praise, and consolation uttered in the world, and say: Amen.

Upon the sages, and upon their students, and upon the students of their students, who are occupied with the Torah, in this place.

The Kaddish of Renewal is an alternative version of the Kaddish, now recited after the burial of the dead. Some communities recite it on the fast day of the Ninth of Av or at celebrations of the completion of a tractate of Talmud. In the Yemenite rite, to this day, it is recited every day after study. Unlike more common versions of the Kaddish, this version includes explicit reference to the resurrection of the dead and to the rebuilding of Jerusa-lem. The prayer is first mentioned in Soferim (Scribes).
