The Tosefta on Separating Dairy and Meat
t. Ḥullin 8:6
70–300
A drop of milk that fell on a piece of meat [in a pot of stew]: R. Judah says: If there is enough [milk] to transmit taste to the piece of meat, [then it is forbidden]. The sages say: [If there is enough milk to transmit taste to] the entire pot, [it is forbidden]. Rabbi said: R. Judah’s words seem [compelling] when one has not stirred or covered the pot, and the sages’ words [seem compelling] when one has stirred and covered [the pot].
