Tsafdina’ Illness

Rabbinic medicine had only rudimentary concepts of disease, and many disease-related terms in the Talmud remain obscure to us. Although rabbinic sources often mention only a disease name or a few symptoms, at times there are more elaborate descriptions of symptoms, etiologies, prognoses, and therapies, as in this description of a condition called tsafdina’.
